Bearded Gentlemen Music interviews Bite Me Bambi Member, Mike Berault.

To understand my love of ska is to understand where I was living when I first learned what ska was. The year was 1995. The place was Southern California. I had just moved to California after living overseas for three years. Sure, I knew who Madness was because of “One Step Beyond,” but that was just ‘80s music to me at the time.

Bite Me Bambi’s Mike Berault Weighs in on X’s Anniversary of the Album Los Angeles

Mike Berault (keyboardist for Southern California ska/pop/punk band Bite Me Bambi and co-host of Mixtape Mixtape Podcast; his previous band, LP3 & The Tragedy, toured with X on the group's 40th anniversary tour in 2017): I remember I watched The Decline Of Western Civilization [1981 documentary about the Los Angeles punk scene], and I saw John Doe giving tattoos in the dressing room before their gig with a needle; this was during the AIDS scare when I saw it. INTERVIEW: Bite Me Bambi step into ‘Hot Lava’ for latest music video

Bite Me Bambi, with one of the coolest band names around, come from Orange County, California, where they have been busily making music and gigging around town. Catch The Wave of Orange County California’s Next Big Artist

During these troubled times that Orange County sound you guys perform is really welcoming so tell me how you got drawn into it.
Tahlena – Thanks! I’m glad to hear that. Bite Me Bambi is comprised of all Orange County ska musicians from bands like Save Ferris, My Super Hero and Starpool. We’re drawn to it, because it’s all we know. Some members of our band were originators of the third wave, Orange County sound. We like keeping our roots in the OC sound while still trying to bring it into the 21st century.

I caught up with Bite Me Bambi frontwoman Tahlena Chikami, who discussed the band’s video for “Hot Lava,” the ska support system in Orange County, and how the seven member band is handling creating music while also practicing social distancing.
